The Umbrous gene can be combined with any colour (with the exception of course, of any colour that already contains the Umbrous gene) and gives the animal an overall sooty appearance. It is sometimes referred to as the Sooty gene. Similarly the White Bellied Gene can be combined with any colour to produce Roans, if mated to a self-colour or White bellied hamsters if mated to an Agouti colour.
